We are gearing up for a fun filled weekend of celebrating Culture Days from September 27 to 29. This year we’re kicking off our Culture Days festivities with the Mississauga Urban Design Awards, happening September 27 from 6:30-9:00 p.m. The awards not only celebrate excellent design in the city but also raise the bar for the quality of future developments. The winners are trendsetters whose work serves as examples of excellent urban design. Mississauga’s awards are the longest running urban design awards in Ontario.
This year, the theme of the event is public art. Hear industry expert Andrew Davies discuss how public art enhances our community’s public realm. The evening will also feature a public art installation by artist Amanda Browder entitled Cascading Mississauga. More than 900 pieces of donated community fabric comprise this temporary sculptural installation. Browder envisions the vibrant burst of colours as a definition of the spirit of Mississauga, a place of good energy and a bright future.
Congratulations to our nominees as we celebrate urban design in the City of Mississauga!
The Urban Design Awards will begin 6:30 p.m. at the Mississauga Civic Centre in the Council Chambers.
